For a lot of those people it was the drugs, then the depression. Then a different type of drugs to cure that. For me it was the fuzzy peace of drugs that took away the pain, at least temporarily. "That's a short cut to addiction..." she said, winking a heavily lashed eye.
But everything in that life was addictive, certainly...
